Our Oncology department is handled by specialist Oncologist, a very professional surgical and medical team and other medical staff. The department deals with various cancers of Oral cavity, Brain tumors, Lungs and breast cancers, Thyroid gland. We have a special expertise in Gastrointestinal cancers including Esophageal, stomach, Pancreatic, Gall bladder, Common bile ducts, Rectal and Intestinal cancers. We have dedicated Oncology department for various renal and genitourinary tract cancers, Cancers of female reproductive organs – Cervical cancer, Uterine and Ovarian cancers as well.
Gastrointestinal Tract (GIT) cancers:-
Our GIT cancers treatment include treatment for Esophageal (food pipe) and stomach cancers, Hepatic Cellular carcinoma (HCC), Gall bladder cancers, Cholangiocarcinoma (Biliary system -Bile ducts cancer), Pancreatic cancers, large and small intestines carcinoma including anal and Rectosigmoid tumors. Treatment is based on staging and metastasis of the disease with surgical and chemotherapy approach.
Male and female Genitourinary tract including reproductive organs Cancers:-
Treatment for Uterine, Ovarian and Cervical cancer with surgery and chemotherapy is routinely performed at KSSH. Also, testicular cancers, Renal cell carcinoma, Urinary bladder cancers and Prostate cancers are diagnosed timely and accurately; a surgical and additional chemotherapy is used as a treatment option. The department includes a team of doctors comprising of an Oncologist, Gynecologist, Surgeons, Urologist, Nephrologist, Anesthetist and critical care specialist, Physician and other medical staff.
Lung Cancer
One of the most common leading cause of death worldwide, lung cancers are mainly Small cell and Non-small cell carcinoma, Adenocarcinoma, Large cell carcinoma, Mesotheliomas and others. Lung tumors are mostly metastatic from other organs and present as secondary metastasis. At KSSH we have diagnostic facilities like CT guided biopsies, Bronchoscopy – BAL and Biopsies, EBUS to successfully detect early stages of lung cancers and treat them.

Some of the oral cavity tumors include hard palate cancers, tongue and throat cancer and others.

Palliative Care
Although cancer treatment is quite possible, many patients have advancement of the disease. Unfortunately, at the end stage of the disease with widespread metastasis, it becomes extremely difficult to treat and cure the patient of advancing cancer. At this stage, the situation demands in maintaining the quality of patients life. In palliative care our main aim is pain relief, treatment of GI disturbances, shortness of breath and other complications with minimal invasive methods. Our palliative care department team makes sure that our patient’s life is at ease with minimum symptoms requiring less hospitalizations with appropriate supportive care. We make sure that our patients and their relatives are thoroughly counseled respecting their decisions and wishes.
