Haematology is a Medical Science that Deals with the Blood and Blood-forming Organ.
Immunology is a Science that deals with the Immune System and the Cell-mediated and Humoral Aspects of Immunity and Immune Responses.

There is a close association with Preston Immunology where some of the more unusual tests are sent.
Medical Microbiology is Concerned with Microorganisms (such as Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi and Parasites) which Cause Diseases in Humans.
The Microbiology Department tests specimens from Patients, who are thought to have an Infection, for the Presence of Disease-Causing Microorganisms.
Cellular Pathology includes Histology, Cytology
Histopathology is the Study of Organs and Tissues to Determine Disease Processes that may be Present.
Tissue samples come from a Wide Range of Sources including Hospital Operating Theatres, Day Surgery Units, Endoscopy and Colposcopy Units, Out Patient Clinics and G.P Surgeries.

The Cellular material-or cells-is collected both naturally-such as from body fluids-and artificially with brushes to gently scrape or fine needles to aspirate cells. These Cells are then Stained, Placed Under a Microscope, and Searched for Pre-malignant and Malignant Cells.
